Altede’s cheap, fast and easy tests will empower people with food allergies to manage their food wherever they are.
Altede, LLC aims to market a simple, low cost, instant test that is able to determine if an allergen (i.e. gluten, dairy, soy…) is present in prepared foods (i.e. restaurant meals, meals away from home). This test will be marketed not only directly to food allergy sufferers, but also to food manufacturers and restaurants that aim to increase their clientele by offering allergy-free guarantees. Our novel design allows for us to offer our allergen test to consumers at a price over 50% lower than our current competitors, therefore allowing a more ubiquitous use of the product. The U.S. alone has ~15 million adults and children suffering from one or more food allergies. According to a study released in 2013 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, food allergies among children has increased approximately 50% between 1997 and 2011, with this trend continuing today. In Europe it is estimated that the number of people suffering from a food allergy is over 16 million and rising. Food allergy sufferers and their family and friends are the target market for our testing device. In addition, food manufacturers, restaurants, food trucks and school cafeterias will also benefit from this product.
